How do you get in the zone?
Aditi: For me, solitude and sleep go a really long way. Although I love people, I’m someone who loves interaction in doses-- I need my spans of solitude to truly be with my thoughts, creative process, and vision for the future.
Who is one of your earliest sources of inspiration?
Aditi: As a daughter of the diaspora, I grew about watching Bollywood, and always had a penchant for Old Bollywood. Some of my inspirations were iconic actresses like Madhubala, Sadhana, and Meenu Kumari-- I loved their beauty, grace, and amazing dance abilities.

Who is one of your newest found sources of inspiration?
Aditi: My garden-- especially in the age of the pandemic. I’m continually learning what a symbiotic relationship with Mother Earth looks like, and developing a tangible relationship with the environment around me.
How do you conquer a creative block?
Aditi: I know many artists preach discipline and consistency in the face of creative blocks, but I genuinely believe in letting the block happen; I don’t believe we can summon art (the authentic kind, anyways), and we need to make peace with the fact that inspiration and creativity sometime come in waves.
What is your favorite time of day? Why?
Aditi: I wish I was a morning person, but I am the worst of waking up early. My energy and creative inspirations tend to peak at night. After 10 pm. Sometimes until 4 am. Thank goodness I’m a freelancer and don’t necessarily have to follow the 9-5 schedule, because I’m more so wired for 5 pm - 1 am, haha! NIGHT OWL, ENERGY AFTER 10 PM.
Do you have anyone that you love to collaborate with?
Most definitely. The amazing photographer Simrah Farrukh is my creative soulmate. I love our dynamic and the beauty we create together.
