KHATIA TKESHELASHVILI
Psychologist & workers' rights advocate
Khatia: I fight for women and workers’ rights. As a therapist I established a therapist's trade union with my coworkers. Our trade union was established under Solidarity Network. It's an independent trade union founded by my friends. So, on my way of fighting for workers' and women's rights I am always supported by my friends, this makes the struggle more powerful and amazing.
When did you start organizing? When did you become politically active?
Khatia: I started working and I faced several problems. My rights were not defended as a worker and I was not taken seriously because of my gender. So I thought I would change the situation, at least around me. As I started to learn more about my rights I began to make changes.
My earliest source of inspiration is my mother. Her strength was the most amazing thing I have seen in my life. The power and desire of changing something comes from her, who I am very proud of.
Who is one of your earliest sources of inspiration?
Khatia: My earliest source of inspiration is my mother. Her strength was the most amazing thing I have seen in my life. The power and desire of changing something comes from her, who I am very proud of.
What is your favorite time of day? Why?
Khatia: Sunrise. New beginnings are always so full of hope.
Do you dream a lot?
Khatia: All the time. If I imagine and visualize something and wish for it, that always happens in the future.
What makes your pulse quicken? What makes you feel alive?
Khatia: Love and victory.
