In Winter of 2022-23, Untitled in Motion entered an exciting new phase of its journey.
This new chapter began when we were invited to check out an empty space on the second floor of the 75 East Broadway Mall in Chinatown, NYC.
Tucked away under the hum and rumble of the Manhattan Bridge, the mall hosts small shops featuring the rare, lovingly made, and magical. We found art and magic everywhere in this special space co-created by an inspiring community of artists, craftspeople and designers.
We conceived of our store as a space animated by imagination, dreams, art, and poetry. And we realized that vision ourselves, hand-painting murals on the walls and decorating with curated design and sculpture to build a sensuous, surreal home for our wearable art.
The space itself spoke to us immediately. Although it seemed like a secret—hidden away upstairs from the street—the light and shadows, sounds and colors of the city filtered in through the windows and washed across the room. It seemed to be dreamily waiting to be transformed into art.
So, since at UIM we trust dreams, we took a big leap, and began creating something new. We conceived of our store as a space animated by imagination, dreams, art, and poetry.
